homeDNAdirect Canada is able to offer you highly accurate and reliable DNA relationship testing for only $495. Relationship DNA tests are the most reliable means of determining biological relationships between alleged relatives such as aunts, uncles, grandparents and their grandchildren and siblings.
Relationship DNA testing is done when a parent is unavailable for a DNA test and thus it is not possible to carry out, for example, a standard DNA paternity test. In such a case, we would suggest testing other relatives from the father’s side such as an aunt or uncle (avuncular DNA test) or a grandparentage test. Alleged paternity or maternity can also be determined by doing a sibling tests between brothers and sisters.

The Relationship DNA Tests we Offer:
Once you have given us the necessary information, we will be able to help you decide which of the following types of test is most suited for your needs:
- Siblings DNA test: this type of test can be used to establish if two people are biological siblings and can be performed through different testing methodologies.
- Avuncular DNA test: which tests to determine whether an aunt or uncle is a child’s biological relative and thus, whether the child’s father is the true biological father.
- Grandparentage DNA test is used to determine whether tested grandparents are the biological grandparents of their grandchild.
Below are the different types of testing methodologies for relationship testing:
- STR (short tandem repeat) test - this test will establish whether two alleged siblings share common genetic material and will therefore determine their degree of relatedness.
- Y chromosome testing- this test analyses the Y chromosome to establish whether two males are related through the paternal side of the family.
- X chromosome testing- this test is done when females wish to know if they have a common father. In such cases, we will need the mother’s sample if they share the same mother.
- MtDNA testing - the type of test is done to establish whether two individuals, either males or females, are related through the alleged mother’s side of the family.
